Founded in 1990, the African American Network of Kern County (AANKC) is a nonprofit organization created to build a strong, unified network that supports minority businesses, promotes professional growth, and delivers meaningful services to the community at large.
AANKC is comprised of businesses, community organizations, parents, and youth who are dedicated to strengthening the community through education, collaboration, and strategic partnerships.
Through unity, we promote responsible and meaningful programs designed to educate, create economic parity, generate job opportunities, develop positive role models, and enhance the culture of the African American community.

Our purpose is to produce enrichment programs and projects that introduce students and community members to tools that build self-esteem, strengthen leadership skills, and support ethical, confident decision-making.
Our programs are intentionally designed to educate, empower, and enhance the African American culture while contributing to a stronger, educated, and safer community through partnerships and collaboration.

We believe that empowering the next generation to lead ethically and confidently creates long-term community impact and increased economic development. Through collaboration with families, organizations, and local partners, AANKC fosters education, leadership, cultural awareness, and community responsibility.
